Love Yourself this February

Phew! January is done and we have kind of stuck to the New Year’s resolutions but for some that motivation has already slipped and all the old excuses are back as to why you have not been able to eat nutritiously and be more active!

So with half term done and dusted why not start afresh? The British Heart Foundation are celebrating their Heart Month awareness campaign so why not focus on loving yourself not just others.

Here are some hard facts. Did you know that cardiovascular disease, which includes heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure) and stroke, is the number one killer of women? Shocking isn’t it?

Last month Public Health England released a new report with some shocking statistics. With high blood pressure being one of the key factors for cardiovascular disease, it is worth noting the key factors that can all play a prominent role in increasing your risk for developing high blood pressure, they are:

  • Smoking
  • Excess alcohol consumption
  • Emotional stress
  • Poor diet and/or exercise
  • Obesity

All of these factors can be managed, yet for many making these change is hard and so that it is why it is important to have the support of others, perhaps who have experienced being overweight, like Sue and I. Plus with encouragement of fellow members it can make the days when you find the old excuses creeping back, a time when you can overcome those obstacles and make positive steps forwards.

Let’s take steps to love yourself and to make lifestyle changes that bring you long term health and happiness.
